We were welcomed to the week yesterday morning with this startling fact:
Needless to say, that knocked us back a little. That story CAN’T be 30 years old, can it?
Not wanting it to be true, we scoured the interwebs trying to find something, anything, to save us from this cruel fact.
But alas, it’s true. Andrew Clark, Claire Standish, John Bender, and the rest of the gang are well into their forties and living (we hope) productive lives.
This whole flashback got us thinking: What other pieces of iconic imagery still resonate with us today?
How many of these do you remember?
In 1984, actress Clara Peller asked a famous question. Do you remember the question? Do you remember who she was pitching for?
In the late seventies and early eighties, Coca-Cola tried to convince us that a soda would put a smile on our face. A few years later, Coca-Cola made a blunder of epic proportions. Do you remember what it was?
Launched in Japan on May 22, 1980, Pac Man became one of the highest grossing video games of all times. (By the early 1990s the game had generated more than $2.5 billion, one quarter at a time.) Do you remember the names of the four ghosts?
First airing in 1972, this little guy discovered a new food he liked. What was that food? Do you know his name? (Side note, this commercial and print ad ran for more than 12 years, making them some of the longest running ever.)
And last, but not least, a brilliant example of how a catch phrase can instantly bring a flood of memories:
Do you remember this? (hint: It’s an empire in the movie world.) Even better, if you have an original poster from the first movie, it’s worth some serious cash.
We hope you enjoyed this look back at some of the images and the memories they evoke from a few years past. Did we miss a favorite of yours? We’d love to see it!
